Frankie Fung

Fung has been studying with renowned Italian soprano Isabel Gentile and baritone Roberto Abbondanza. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Hong Kong, Fung pursued a master’s degree in chamber vocal music in the G. Briccialdi High Institute of Musical Study in Terni, Italy, under the tutorship of Abbondanza. During his study in Italy, Fung performed in different cities such as Castel Viscardo, Porano and Perugia. Fung was a participant of Jockey Club Opera Hong Kong Young Artist Development Programme from 2015 to 2016 and studied with distinguished bass Mr. Gong Dongjian and New York Metropolitan Opera repetiteur and conductor Pierre Vallet. 

His recent engagement in opera includes Don Giovanni in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Achilla in Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Cassandro in Mozart’s La finta semplice, Zuniga and Le Dancaire in Bizet’s Carmen. He also performed regularly as a soloist in concerts, including Bruckner’s Te Deum, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle and Haydn’s The Creation. 

As an experienced vocal coach and chorister, Fung assisted Wah Yan College, Kowloon boys' choir in participating numerous choral festivals and competitions around the world with outstanding results, countries including China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, the United States, Ireland and Slovenia. He is also one of the founding members of Signo, an award-winning Hong Kong male ensemble. In 2019 world youth and children’s choir festival in Hong Kong, they obtained category winner, best interpretation and Jurys’ prize.
