Leanne Tong

Leanne Tong is a Hong Kong soprano. As a diverse musician, she started playing the piano at the age of 6 under the tutelage of Dr. Natalia Tokar. She also started studying flute at the age of 10 and with Hong Kong Sinfonietta Principle Flutist Ms. Izaskun Erdocia, and was the flutist in St. Paul’s Secondary School Orchestra. She was also the winner of Girl’s Solo at Hong Kong Schools Music Festival (Girls, 18 years old or under) in 2015. However, her official voice training only started in 2019 with Dr. Chan Siu Kwan, when she took a Vocal Performance Elective Course at the university. She then graduated her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours (majoring in Music and German) in 2020 from the University of Hong Kong. In December the same year, she received the Gold Award at the Paul Phoenix Academy’s Music Festival – “A celebration of John Rutter’s Music” in Solo: Open Class. In March 2022, she received full scholarship to start a Bachelor of Vocal Studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, Austria, and is now under the tutelage of the Russian dramatic soprano, Professor Elena Pankratova.
